Caleb Rolls Over!!!!

As you can see my house is empty. Caleb and Melissa went to see Mom and Dad in Oklahoma this weekend and I've been living the life of a bachelor all weekend. It's not as fun as it used to be when you're used to having people around all the time. But they come home tomorrow, YEA!!!

Hey there. So it's been a long time since I've been on here. That's what happens when you move and don't have the internet for a while I guess. Anyway, we finally have internet in the house. So can post more often. Or at least find a new excuse for why I don't post :)
Ministry is going well here. I'm getting more and more acquainted with the new church and the teens. It's tons of fun. It looks like it's going to be a great year!

Caleb keeps growing bigger and bigger. Pretty soon he's going to start rolling over. Then he'll be driving and off to college. My, where did life go? Well...until next time.

Major Change...again

If you haven't figured this out about us by now, we tend to like to do everything at once. In 2002 we graduated college, moved over 1000 miles away from home and got married in a three month time period. This year, we had Caleb and now we're moving again. At least we're not moving 1000 miles away again.
On Monday we packed everything up in Croswell and moved it into storage. Right now we're in Bartlesville for some vacation time and for Caleb to get dedicated at First Wesleyan on the 22nd. When we get back to Michigan on the 26th we'll be moving 40 miles to Kingston, MI. We're still doing youth ministry and we're excited to be in a ministry where our gifts and talents can be put to good use. I'll get to lead worship for the church and lead the youth ministry of 50 to 60 students.
We can't wait to get there and start the ministry that God has for us.

Toronto

This week I took a group of teens to Toronto to do an Urban Extreme plunge with Em Johnson. We've now been here a day and a half and it is awesome! I've watched two of our teens just completely latch on and catch the vision for what we are doing here. They're already jumping into their own conversations with people on the street without someone guiding them. Honestly, they're doing better at this than I am. It's so awesome to see. Tomorrow we take off to work in a couple of ministries around the city and then we'll be back on the streets at night meeting people and learning more about the city. Mike and some people from The Gig will be here tomorrow night. Should be good times.

We have a new addition to our family this week. Caleb Lewis was born on Monday at 3:10 pm and weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. Everything is going great and we're super excited!

Yesterday Ryan and I went to a leadership develop day for the East and West Michigan districts. It was pretty good. We got a lot of good info and overall, I thought it was a good day, except that we had to be up before God to be in Lansing by 9:00.

Keith Drury was our speaker for the day. Very good speaker and very informative. I'm glad we went.

North American International Auto Show 2007

My brother Steve and I had the awesome chance to go to the Auto Show in Detroit a couple weeks ago. I'm late in posting because it's hard to pick just a few pictures to put up here. We had a great time though! I always love seeing the new concepts and next years cars. Here are just a few of the highlights.

We'll start with one of my favorite new things! BMW has this new Heads Up Display. On the windshield you can see your speed and directions from your GPS! It tells you what street you're coming up to, which way to turn and a progress bar that tells you how close you're getting. They liken it to what a fighter pilot has in their helmet. It was very cool!!!

This next deal I wish I had! On the tailgate by the handle there is a small camera pointed straight at the trailer hitch with a small screen (not much bigger than an iPod screen) on the dash so you can see exactly where to stop! It's awesome!

Chirstmas Time

Christmas time was a great time! Melissa and I were able to travel afar to the land of Oklahoma. We had a great time with family and friends and simply just relaxing. Now we sit here in 2007 and have to go back to work tomorrow. Humbug!

Bitter Sweet Symphony

As we had the joy this week of finding out we're having a boy in April, we also had the sadness of giving Stuart up for adoption. We decided a while back that he would be better off and better taken care of in home that could provide him more attention. So Stuart moved to a new home far away on Tuesday. It was sad because he is a good dog. Melissa says she just keeps pretending that he's outside. Stuart will be missed but will be better off with his new owner.

It's official! We went to the doctor yesterday and found out that Bob is a boy. Just a reminder that Bob is not his real name. We are super excited!!! Can't wait for little Bob to be born so we can stop calling him Bob.

I went into Best Buy on Thursday morning and just had to laugh out loud when I saw the line and the tents and everything as people were anxiously awaiting the PS3. Why you would want to pay over $600 for a stupid video game system is beyond me.
Tonight at Meijer there were some guys waiting on the Nintendo Wii. That I would wait for. I think I'll always be loyal to Nintendo, it's cheap and still makes the quality family games. Good days.

Tonight Melissa and I got to have dinner with Mike and Em Johnson. Mike and Em have been good friends for several years as well as partners in ministry and Mike and I were roommates for a year in college. I even had the wonderful privilege to perform their wedding last year. I wish we would have brought a camera so I actually had a picture from tonight instead of one that's over a year old.
Mike and Em are on their way to Canada since Mike got a job at RIM working with BlackBerrys. Any of you that know them know that they are finally seeing their lifelong dreams come true to live near Toronto and continue to ministry they've built there and to have an incredible job opportunity like this. It was awesome to get to see them as they're on their way to this new life. I'm also very excited that they will be much closer now so hopefully we'll get to see them more.

NEW MACBOOK!!!

It finally came! On Friday I got my brand new MacBook Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHZ 60GB Hard drive and upgraded to 2MB of RAM. It is very awesome! It didn't take very long at all to switch everything over and get it all set up the way I like it. I am finally a Mac user again. And i no longer have a need for a Heathenbox (PC) Check out the pics below!

Wow! Dad, Steve, Tony and I went to Cedar Point last Monday. Some may say that we are boring because we only road 5 rides. But we say "Who Cares!" when two of those rides were the Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster which you see here.

The Love Boat...

So it's been about a month now since we went on vacation, so I figured it's about time to blog about it. Melissa and I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a cruise this summer.
It was awesome! We left Miami and went to Key West and then went on to Cozumel Mexico. And then had a day at sea on the way home. It was the best. Everything is just right there, all you have to do is choose.
And everything you've heard about the veritable cornicopia of food on a cruise...

is absolutely true!

While we were in Mexico we went on a Beach Buggy tour of the island.

We drove all around and got to go snorkling and shopping and had a real Mexican dinner. It was great!

It was a phenominal vacation. We had tons of fun there. And tons of fun driving the 3400 mile round trip to Miami and back.

And of course, there was Margerine Jesus :-)

NEW CHAIR!!!

For the last three years I've been using a chair I got for free when I first moved here. It's been great except that the casters didn't always turn so well. A couple of weeks ago the whole chair started rocking back and forth and I noticed that one of the casters was broken. A couple days later it completely broke off making the chair pretty much useless (notice the picture). The last couple of days I've even had to use a regular chair at my desk that doesn't have wheels. (Everbody is supposed to feel sorry for me here :)

So I got approved to go buy a new chair and now work can be enjoyable again. Check out the new goods below. Now life can be good and all is normal in the universe again. Until next time...

This year for my birthday I got a huge surprise. My parents, instead of just giving me a CD or something like that, decided to give me a car. Dad gave me his 2002 Pontiac Bonneville. It's awesome! I just picked it up a month ago finally and I love it! Of course he replaced it with a 2006 Mustang GT, so he's not hurting too bad. Anyway, it's good days! See ya next time!

Have you ever done something completely silly because you were bored? Or maybe because you were offered money? Last week my brother got this cake at his going away party from Old Navy. It was pretty grose. It was one of those where they took a picture and made it into the frosting. Anyway, tonight Melissa and I were standing around waiting for dinner to get done and she asked if she could smash my face in the cake. I told her for 10 bucks I'd do it. So we did. So I just took our leadership team our district Student Leadership Retreat. This year we had our retreat at a hotel in Canada. For those of you that don't know, my church doesn't own any vans so we usually rent for events like this. Well it turns out that Enterprise won't let you take 15 passenger vans into Canada. So I ended up having to borrow this beast from my buddy Len over at Kingston. It was hillarious! I've never had so many people point and laugh at me ever in my life. This thing is such a pile. Over at Kingston they call it the BBT, Big Brown Turd!
But the retreat was extremely Chem! Doug Swink really challenged our leaders!

North American International Auto Show

Two weeks ago was my birthday. To celebrate, my brother and I went to the Auto Show in Detroit. I love the auto show! It's just awesome to get to see all the new cars coming out this year and all the concepts and good stuff like that. Most cars are open and you can sit in them and check them out and see how they feel. Very cool.
I got to sit in a Corvette Z06 which I love! Someday, someday...

I love the Italian section too. I think you have to have special permission to get in that section because all the cars are being this little glass fence, but there are some people that get to go back there and check them out. I wonder if they check your bank account first to see if you can afford one. Ford had this concept truck called the Super Chief! Freaken Huge! The back seats were big enough that they had footrests and a mini bar!!

And then there's Steve with Land Rover. Ahhh irony :-)

afterwards we went to the Apple Store, they had to mop up all the drool after Steve and I left. Then we spent much time at Guitar Center. Another very cool store. And we topped off the day with goods at Red Lobster. MMMMMM

New year, new life, still getting in trouble

Well, another year has come and gone. 2005 was good. The Lord blessed Melissa with an awesome job in February. We've been able to pay off the Cavelier in just over 2 years. Melissa has her school debt down to under $10k and I got an iPod! That's right, after whining and begging for months I got my full size 20gb iPod. this has to be the best invention ever!!!!

In July I got reelected as the district youth treasurer. And funny enough we still have money in the account :-)

In the Fall Steve moved in. That seems to be going well. He works at Old Navy in PH and seems to be enjoying that. He just started a young adult ministry here at the church. I hope and pray that this one goes well.

Ministry is still going strong here at CWC. Our youth ministry continues to thrive. Teens are coming to know the Lord for the first time and growing in their faith. RIght now we have about 10 teens being discipled in a one-on-one mentorship. We have about 15 teens in our Saturday morning discipleship group. We took 9 students to Logos5 NC Area Wesleyan Youth Convention. It was a great trip. We were challenged to dig into God's Word as this year is The Year of the Bible for the Wesleyan Church. It was a great conference! And it was only in Grand Rapids! Good days!
Things are good. They could always be better as I continue to grow as a youth pastor and a leader. I'm always learning.

Speaking of learning...I did the unthinkable this year. I went back to school. In May I began my Masters of Arts in Youth Ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University. It's going really well. right now, after 3 classes, I'm holding a 3.95 GPA. I'm learning a lot and I'm able to almost immeidiately apply things to my ministry. I'm really enjoying the online format they have.

So as 2005 closed, I still get in trouble a lot (as you can see from this pic) but it's tons of fun and good days. Things are going well and they continue to get better. Love you all! Hopefully I'll get more consistent with this blogging thing.

Well good evening. I'm going to try out this blogging thing to see how well I like it. My problem is I don't really know what to write. Especially when I'm tired and late at night is the only time I have to keep up with stuff. Life is good though. I'm really enjoying the challenges of my job and building relationships with teens. It's good here. My brother is coming up to live with us next week. It should be fun. We haven't really spent any significant time together in three or four years so it will be great. I think that's all. Later!
